Tips for choosing cash register paper

(I) Look at the material and smoothness
When choosing cash register paper, the material is a key factor. Paper with a white surface and no impurities is generally wood pulp paper. Cash register paper produced from this paper has good tensile strength and a clean and tidy appearance. In contrast, paper made of mixed pulp paper or straw pulp paper will have more or less spots on it, and the tensile strength is also poor, and it is easy to break during the printing process. For example, some small businesses chose mixed pulp cash register paper to save costs, but as a result, paper jams and breaks frequently occurred during use, affecting cash register efficiency.
Smoothness is also an important consideration. Cash register paper with good smoothness can reduce the wear of the print head and achieve better printing results. Just as the engine of a car needs high-quality lubricating oil to reduce wear, the print head of a printer also needs smooth cash register paper to protect it. According to statistics, using cash register paper with good smoothness can extend the service life of the print head by 20% to 30%.
(II) Identification of thermal cash register paper
Look at the appearance: good quality thermal cash register paper has uniform color, good smoothness, high whiteness, and a little green. If the paper is very white, then the protective coating and thermal coating of the paper may be unreasonable, and too much fluorescent powder has been added. If the paper is not smooth or looks uneven, then the paper coating is uneven. If the paper looks very reflective, it is also because too much fluorescent powder has been added. For example, we see some thermal cash register papers on the market that are too pale. This is likely to be excessive addition of fluorescent powder, which not only affects the printing quality, but also may cause potential harm to human health.
Bake with fire: Heat the back of the paper with fire. If the color on the paper is brown, it means that the thermal formula is not reasonable and the storage time may be relatively short. If there are fine stripes or uneven color blocks on the black part of the paper, it means that the coating is uneven. After heating, the better quality paper should be black-green, and the color blocks are uniform, and the color gradually fades from the center to the surroundings. In this way, we can intuitively judge the quality of thermal cash register paper.
(III) Consider other factors
When choosing cash register paper, we should also consider some other factors. First, try to choose cash register paper with a high wood pulp content. Such paper has less paper scraps and less damage to the equipment. Second, choose thin cash register paper. Thin paper is generally made of wood pulp, has less paper scraps, and is usually more environmentally friendly. In addition, don’t just look at the outer diameter or core size of the cash register paper, which cannot accurately reflect the length and cost-effectiveness of the paper. The important thing is to look at the number of meters. Only when it is long in meters can it be cost-effective. Convert it to one meter and see which one is more economical. For example, some merchants only pay attention to the outer diameter when purchasing cash register paper, but find that the length of the paper is very short in actual use. Frequent replacement of cash register paper not only increases costs, but also affects cash register efficiency.
